II Kings 19:6 Isaiah said to them “Say to your master, ‘Thus says the Lord: Do not be afraid because of the words you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have reviled me”.

If we remember, the enemy is at the gates of Jerusalem, everything is on the line. The enemy has gone as far as to say that not only will God not help the inhabitants of Jerusalem, but that it is God himself who has sent the enemy to crush and destroy them – unless they leave willingly of their own accord.

The enemy of our soul wants to steal our faith in God, undermine any promises we are standing on, and make us doubt God’s character and nature.

The enemy trades in fear, his currencies are lies and intimidation, his ways are subversion and mistrust. He is the father of all lies.

But God has a response for us to consider …..”do not be afraid”.

God is whispering his love to you this morning. He is encouraging you to draw close to Him and to not be afraid. He is well able to deal with the enemy and send him packing. The bible tells us in James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”

That word “flee” means “to shrink back” or, “to stand aside fearfully”.

Let’s not be afraid today, let’s once again submit all our lives to God in trust and faith, and as a family let’s resist the devil and watch in peace as he has to stand fearfully aside as we go on with the call on our lives to reach the lost.

Principle of Change 45 – stay tuned to the Holy Spirit and do not be afraid.

Strength – Context – let’s think about the past in the present so we can see a better future.
