2 Kings 18:23
“Come now, make a wager with my master the king of Assyria: I will give you two thousand horses if you are able on your part to set riders on them.”
The Assyrian enemy wants Hezekiah and his team to get focused on their own limitations. And to that end, the enemy is speaking the truth about the facts of the situation that the people of Jerusalem are facing.
The visible resources of the enemy were vast, the power undoubted, and their previous successes were well known.
Giving away 2000 horses would hardly even be noticed by the Assyrians, however for Jerusalem that would be such a large step up that they would not know what to do. In fact, as the Assyrians are so keen to point out, they don’t even have two thousand skilled riders in the whole city.
Doubt is the weapon of choice, sowing seeds of doubt is the tactics, and robbing the people of Jerusalem of their faith was the strategy.
Whatever battles you are facing today the enemy of your soul will find people to speak to you about how massive and impossible are the challenges in front of you today, they will sow seeds of discontent, doubt, and even despair in your life. They will point out how little resources you actually have to bring success, and why you should really just give up now. Do you feel like giving up sometimes? Which voices are you listening to?
There is another voice, a whisperer of hope, a speaker of encouragement, and a bringer of truth.
Isaiah in Chapter 40, verse 31, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV).
Isaiah was the very prophet that Hezekiah turned to for guidance in this great time of need. Hezekiah trusted God’s word as it came to him through Isaiah. For you today these words carry the exact same hope, encouragement, and truth. Are you weary, do you see problems on every side, is hope a long way of right now? Let’s “wait on the Lord” together today – wait in prayer, in praise, and in peace.
You are about to soar, to run with lightness, to lose all sense of weariness, as you wait on God – his promises are true!

Strength – Connectedness: You see the big picture. When people get caught up in day-to-day challenges that can zap their energy, you can help them step back and see things from a long-term God perspective. We are all part of something bigger than ourselves. This foundational belief can give meaning and purpose to those who are questioning their contribution. You see and show the links between the seen and the unseen!
