II Kings 18:20 Do you think that mere words are strategy and power for war? In whom do you now trust, that you have rebelled against me?
Do you remember last week’s scripture? The enemy is at the gate of Jerusalem and was questioning where the people were putting their trust. The enemy wanted them to take their eyes off the unseen, and to focus on the seen – to become consumed by the challenges and problems that are right in front of them.
In this week’s scripture, the enemy is challenging their belief that there is power in words. Let’s think about that for a moment?
Let’s consider Gen 1:2 (KJV) and the earth was without form, and void: and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” – there is no shape, no light, no order, no substance.
Then comes – Gen 1:3 “And God said let there be light”, and there was light.
God spoke everything changed, then order started to replace chaos, darkness was moved away by light, and a shape started to emerge. When something was missing, God spoke it into existence.
Maybe words are powerful, maybe the enemy is wrong?
What about Proverbs 18:21 “The tongue has the power of life and death.”
So actually your words do have power, they shape your beliefs, drive your behaviour, and ultimately, shape your world.
What words will you speak over yourself and others this week that will bring life, hope, and health?
Blessings
