δίδαξόν (didaxon) – teach

διδάσκω (didasko) teach, direct, admonish – appears 97 times in the New Testament. Matt 5:2 [ESV] is a great example of this – “And he opened his mouth and taught (διδάσκων) them saying:”

There is a consistent request from the psalmist to God, for himself and on our behalf, for God to teach us his ways. This is a prayer for today I think. In a society that wants so much to be in charge and define its own standards, its right and wrong, to be its own God. “Did God really say” echoes throughout the developed world today. This prayer from Psalm 119, which appears directly seven times, is a prayer for me to adopt today and every day.

Imagine being in a place where each day, God teaches you his ways, his principles for success, and his statutes that will keep you worry-free and full of peace every moment of every day. Imagine that you know what to say or not say in every situation, that you know how to prepare for the day ahead every day, and that you are always ready to speak life, hope, and health into everyone you meet each day, achieving all the purposes before you, and staying completely interruptable. Imaging your hearts cry is “God, teach me your statues”.
